FUNNY THINGS KIDS DO AND SAY

1.Seth has been doing and saying some pretty funny things lately so I thought I would write a few down. Like for example Mark and I were in the car after cumming home from church or something and I still had my home made Indian headbands on the dash from Halloween. So before we get the kids unbuckled mark looks at me and says, in regards to the headbands cluttering up his car. "Are you going to take that crap?" not more than two seconds later Seth says, "ya dad are you going to take that crap?" so funny to hear a three year old say something like that.
2.Another funny one. So in our ward we have to feed the sister missionaries almost every day of the month, we have them over a least once a month. this last Sunday we had them over and Seth came out with his toy sword and unexpectedly hits sister Dorff on the arm. I quickly told him that was not ok and that he needed to apologize to sister Dorff. He got all embarrassed and did not want to look her in the eye and say he was sorry, so he shamefully scurried off. A few minutes later he came back and gave sister Dorff a used band aid to make her feel better.( it was not really used, because it was one we gave him to make him feel better about a bump on his head.)I thought it was a very cute gesture. Later on that night we attended a baptism for Brittany Bennett and Seth got to go up to the font and see it happen. As it ended he trots back and says kinda on the loud side in a quiet setting, "Mom I see the baptize!"

Half Marathon

Mark and I ran our half marathon on the Grand Ridge trail, with Evergreen Trail Run in Issaquah that was 13.1 miles. We picked this run because it was close by and it was a cheaper Marathon than others we saw. We just wanted to have a goal to work up to, so I could get back into shape after having Porter. Well we had trained by trying to run three miles every day around this loop in our neighborhood with a few good hills and run a long run on the weekend. Gradually making the weekend runs further and further. One of our long weekend runs was a 6 mile run that we did at my parents house from their home to Herald store. That was a hard run because it was in September and it was still hot in California. All of our other long practice runs we did on the ceder river trail. We did an 8 mile 10 mile and a 12 mile. I mention all that because when we had signed up for the race we had no real idea what it was going to be like. We never looked into anything more about the race until a week or two prier. So when we started the race it was a flat and wide gravel road and then suddenly we funneled into a narrow trail head that had steep switch backs for a few miles. (I don't know the exact distance)I tried my hardest to fight through my burning calves and my lack of breath, but soon enough I found myself walking up the hill. I quickly realized that I was not trained for this kind of a run. Over all the weather was good and the the trail was not muddy in most parts. But the trail run was definitely harder than what we had prepared for.The trail was rough on our joints and ankles I came close to rolling my ankles a few times on a root or a rock. For me it was hard to keep a consistent pace with the rocky parts, muddy parts, and the small streams we had to pass here and there. I felt like the people that were doing a 50 k run on this trail were crazy. I had anticipated to run a half marathon in 2 hours and 15 minutes but instead we did this run up a mountain and down again in 3 hours and 14 minutes. A little treacherous and disappointing. I am glad it is over with. My right knee has been in pain ever since but seems to be getting better.I feel like the run was a love hate relationship. Well anyway we had pizza at the end in the rain. TD would be so proud of me becuase I had a vegetarian slice. In my category 20-29, I finished 22nd place out of 33 racers. With a time of 3:14:26.9. And poor mark who had to run at my pace finished 10th with a time of 3:14:26.0 out of 10 runners in his category. I kinda feel like a winner though because in both the men's and women's category the people that won first place both had my name. lol Sam Bliss 1:57:19.0 and Samantha Skeens 2:13:13.0. So instead of doing a 10 minute mile like we did in training. we ended up doing a 14:50.5 minute mile.Oh well. To express our thanks to Macaul for watching our kids while we did the run we got Macaul a Chocolate shake from Jack in the Box and lunch for her kids. Macaul has always been awesome when it comes to helping us out with the kids so we can do stuff like this. We did not take many pictures but here are the few we did take.
I had to put this one on here because Marks face is to funny.
This is Mark and I waiting in the car for our race to start. It was cold and muddy, so it was the best place to wait.

Porters Baby Blessing

Here are some Pictures of Porter the day he got blessed. He was Blessed in the Cougar Mountain Ward when he was three months old on Macaul's Birthday as a matter of fact. those who were invited to participate in the circle were Bishop John Rex, Bruce Rowe,Scott Rowe, Shon Hancock, Gavin Thornton, and Mike Arnesen. Mark gave the blessing and just before he did Shon Hancock, (so sly) slipped his phone into Marks shirt pocket to record the blessing.
Aunt TD and Grandma Rowe giving Porter some Love.
Porter was Blessed in the same blessing outfit as Seth. Grandma Rowe got it for Seth back in 2009.

Mary A. Rowe's Funeral

So two weeks after Porter was born we attended Mary A. Rowe's Funeral. ( Mark's Grandmother) I always thought it was interesting that Mark and I both had a Grandam Mary. Only Mine is my great grandma and is still alive at age 101 I think. Anyway I did live with Mark and Paula Rowe(Marks Aunt and Uncle)in Orem, UT before mark and I were married so I had the privilege of getting to know Mary during my short time there. She was a sweet woman and always had a happy attitude. Mary would always say "Its another Sunny day in Zion" every morning. She had Alzheimer and even though she could not remember who I was or what was going on half the time, she was always happy. Family is everything she would say and let me know that she had done her genealogy on five lines. and Rowe was really German and was pronounced Rou meaning Rough. In short I came to admire and love her. Even though I had only come to know her in this late hour of her life I could tell she was a good woman that had lived an exemplary life.
Melissa and Dan Rowe's new little boy Owen. Owen had the same due date as Porter, however neither one was born on that date.

Wanted to get a picture of Trenna's head stone as well while we were there.

For Porter

Porter was born at U.W.Hospital in Seattle, WA after 36 hours of labor. Mark and I had hoped to have a vaginal birth at home, but the baby just was not moving along,so all my contractions seemed to be for nothing. He ended up Being c-section at around 4:00 pm on Friday April 13th.
This is Porter maybe 20 minutes after he was born. 9 lbs 14 oz. He was two weeks overdue. Since Mark and I agreed to disagree on the name of the baby we did agree to let it fall to fate and depending on the day he was born, be it odd or even that would determine weather his was Porter or Evan. The 13 was actually the day that would have made his name Evan, but after seeing me in so much pain Mark said he would let me have the name Porter if I wanted it. I told him I would only take it if his middle name was going to be Fox, because nothing sounded better with Porter than that for a middle name. He agreed to that, and so now we have a Little Porter Fox Rowe. For the record though, had my delivery been normal he would have been born on a Porter day anyway.
Porter actually smiled at me the first time I held him and he has been a really smiley baby ever since. All except for how needy he was in the recovery room. But that was because nurses kept having to poke him and take his blood sugar levels every few hours. He did not like that and cried every time the door would open and shut. He was much better when we got home. Thank goodness. He looked a lot like Seth when he was first born. He quickly got a look of his own. He is a sweet little baby and we love him very much. So blessed to have two good boys.
Seth was excited to have a new little brother.
Porter was the same size as his two month old cousin Charles.
